Inside the luxury lives of the socialite Spencer sisters: Princess Dianas model nieces Lady Ameli

May 2024 · 4 minute read
Lately, the dynamic trio has been making waves in the British press, from their impossibly glam looks at fashion week, to the Versace dress Lady Amelia wore for her lavish wedding that paid tribute to the People’s Princess.

Let’s take a look at how the Spencer sisters are living like modern-day princesses, and why they’re already dominating the London scene before two of them have even made their big move.

The Spencers: from Cape Town to London

All three sisters were born in London to Princess Diana’s brother, Earl Charles Spencer, and former model Victoria Aitken, before relocating to South Africa where they grew up in Cape Town.

They have a brother Louis Spencer, Viscount Althorp, and three step-siblings from their father’s other marriages, Lady Lara Spencer, Edmund Charles Spencer and Lady Charlotte Diana Spencer. After Earl Charles Spencer and Victoria divorced in 1997, Victoria had a son with Jonathan Aitken – Samuel Aitken – whom the girls are close with.

Twins Amelia and Eliza, 30, made plans to move to London in 2021 to pursue their careers in interior design (Eliza) and event planning (Amelia), according to an interview with British media in March. However, the girls returned to their hometown during the pandemic, and are planning their big move this year, they told the publication.

Meanwhile, their older sister Kitty, 32, has been a prominent figure on London’s high society social scene since 2016.

Luxury fashion fixtures

What’s more, all three sisters have managed to carve out a name for themselves in the fashion industry.

Kitty is a brand ambassador for Dolce & Gabbana, and walked for the fashion house back in 2018. She also appeared in several Bulgari campaigns that year, too.

Meanwhile, the twins have signed with Storm Model Management (the same agency as Kitty, and celebs like Behati Prinsloo, Mia Regan and Riley Keough), and have already worked with brands including Dior, Versace, Ralph Lauren, Michael Kors and Chaumet.

All three attend fashion weeks from Milan to London.

Jet-setting schedules

Considering their wealthy upbringing, it’s hardly surprising to hear that the girls are used to travelling the world in style.

Eliza and Amelia have posted snapshots of their glam trips to NYC, Venice and Düsseldorf, while Kitty always seemed to be on the go before the pandemic, appearing in campaigns from Puerto Banús to Provence.

As a trio, they’ve shared cute Instagram photos of them hanging out together in Santorini and Rome.

Enviable wardrobes

In the realm of high fashion, the Spencers reign supreme.

With access to the most exclusive events and designer collections, all three siblings are known to step out in fashionable ‘fits. From Alberta Ferretti and Zimmermann, to Jimmy Choo, Chopard and D&G.

Beautiful homes

During the Covid-19 lockdowns, royal fanatics were delighted to be given a rare glimpse into Kitty’s US$26 million central London home, where she lives with her now-husband Michael Lewis. Inside, the mansion has a baroque-style theme, with plenty of gold and chandelier details.

Amelia and Eliza are much more private about their personal lives. They did, however, grow up with their sister in the wealthy suburb of Constantia, Cape Town, where high-end houses can go for about US$4 million, per Christie’s Real Estate.

Diana “did come and visit us in South Africa on a few occasions. She stayed with us, just before she passed away, at my father’s house here in Cape Town. We were very fortunate to have spent that time with her,” Eliza told British media.

Eliza currently lives in a gated home in the South Africans suburb of Claremont, according to British media. And let’s not forget the Spencer family’s historic 5,200 hectare Grade I listed stately home of Althorp in Northamptonshire in England, where the girls would spend time during the holidays.

Long-term loves

All three aristocrats are taken – and they have been for a while.

Amelia just married her university sweetheart and property agent Greg Mallett after dating for 11 years, and there is speculation that Eliza could be next to walk down the aisle, since she recently celebrated her seventh anniversary with entrepreneur boyfriend Channing Millerd, per her Instagram. Millerd is clearly well connected too, even working with Kendall Jenner on her 818 Tequila brand.

Kitty has found her happily ever after too, as she married 64-year-old millionaire Michael Lewis last year in what was described as a fairy tale wedding.

Royal events, of course – but will they be at the king’s coronation?

The girls occasionally show up to royal events, including the weddings of Prince William and Kate Middleton and Prince Harry and Meghan Markle (though Amelia reportedly didn’t attend the latter).

But will they be at the coronation of King Charles – their aunt’s ex-husband – in May? Only time will tell …
